The WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits by AccademiaSpirit is an intermediate-level qualification designed for anyone who wants to expand their understanding of spirits and liqueurs. It’s ideal for those working in hospitality, distribution or retail, as well as enthusiasts looking to explore the world of spirits more seriously.

The course is taught only in English and can be taken as a 3-day intensive classroom programme or as a 5-week self-paced online course, offering flexibility to fit your schedule. For classroom students, the exam is normally held in person, while online students have the option of taking their exam remotely online.

What you will learn

During the course you will explore:

• The major categories of spirits and liqueurs, from whiskies, rums, vodkas and gins to brandies and more.
• How raw materials, fermentation, distillation and maturation influence style and quality.
• Global brands, categories and market trends.
• How to taste and describe spirits using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT).
• Mixing, service, and cocktail use of spirits.

By the end, you will be able to explain production methods, identify styles, and make confident recommendations.

Assessment and certification

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions. Candidates who pass receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits certificate and lapel pin, recognised internationally as a benchmark qualification in the world of drinks.
